Therapy Session Focus

Therapy care plans are highly individualized and defined in close collaboration with the client and their family. OTOL Rx addresses a range of client focus areas. These include:

  • Attention and concentration
  • Compensatory memory and organizational strategies
  • Home and community activities of daily living
  • Leisure time/productive day activities
  • School/work success and reintegration
  • Listening, reading, writing, and speech production
  • Conversational speech/management of social interactions
  • Upper and lower body physical functioning
  • Balance/vestibular functioning
  • Disability adjustment/relationships with family members/friends/colleagues
  • Caregiver training for current and anticipated long term needs

Therapy Session Length

Most clients are seen for extended sessions (longer than the traditional 45-50 minute home health or outpatient visit). This program feature allows us to better achieve 1:1 therapy goals as well as to:

  • Educate, train, prepare, and supervise family members, other caregivers, and cognitive aides/ NeuroAttendantsm assistants; focus is on how to monitor and reinforce behaviors addressed in therapy and ways to provide additional opportunities for specific skill practice outside of therapy sessions
  • Conduct thorough behavioral observations and intervention at the actual location of community productive day activities (such as a health club, social activity group, school classroom, and volunteer/work site).

Therapy Intensity

The frequency and duration of a client’s program is variable. We develop a flexible care plan that matches the individual needs of our clients, families, and financial partners. A typical client program ranges from one to three sessions per week from each involved therapy discipline.
